Srimoyee Mitra MA 2008
Srimoyee Mitra is a curator and writer. She has worked as the Art Writer for publications in India such as Time Out Mumbai, Art India – The Art News Magazine of India and as the Artistic Director of Ek Aur Level Chalte Chalte : A Festival of Theatre for Change (2006) in Mumbai, India. From 2008-2011 she was the Programming Co-ordinator of SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre) in Toronto where she curated Crossing Lines: An Intercultural Dialogue at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery (2009-10) and Debashis Sinha: The Known World (2011). Srimoyee has participated in conferences including Extra-Curricular: Between Art and Pedagogy, Part I (2010) at Justina M. Barnicke Galler, Shift: Dialogues on Migration in Contemporary Art (2011) at MacKenzie Art Gallery and and Re:Works in progress – Reconciliation Works in Progress (2012) at Algoma University. Independent Curatorial Projects include Changing Stakes: Contemporary Art Dialogues with Dubai (2011) at Mercer Union and Let’s Talk Get to Know Each Other, We are all Human with the AGO Youth Council (2010). In 2011, she moved to the border town of Windsor, Ontario, to take the position of Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Windsor. She is currently developing a series of exhibitions and programs that examine the visible and invisible histories of the area and its people through contemporary art practices burgeoning in the region, nationally and internationally.
